Temple of the Emerald Buddha

This painting features the bejewelled walls on the exterior of the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, located within the grounds of the Grand Palace, Thailand.  I was lucky enough to tour through the palace and view the temple a few months ago and was mesmerized by the ornate tiles encrusting the walls.  The way the jew like colours shimmered in the sunlight was breathtaking and I knew that I had to try to capture it all upon my return.

This piece is the first in my new 2018 traveller series.  I have more to come in this collection, so stay tuned!

The palace and temple are definitely worth seeing if you are in the area.  I was amazed by the exquisite attention to detail in everything I saw.  I can only imagine how long it took the artists to craft everything.  If it were not for all the people milling about I would have liked to sit somewhere peaceful for a few hours to just take it all in, but it was very busy the day we chose to go.  Thankfully I took lots of photos that I can now enjoy at home. 🙂
